North Trails in the Bohemian Forest

In the border triangle of Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic, four varied running routes through unspoilt nature await you: gentle hills, steep peaks, deep forests, rushing streams and impressive viewpoints. 

Along the 12 routes, which cover a total of over 220 kilometres and around 8,000 metres in altitude, beginners, pleasure runners and amateur runners will find ideal conditions.

From a relaxed run to the challenging Ultratrail Böhmerwald - every kilometre is an experience here. Outdoor fans will get their money's worth.

The Bärenstein Trail with 21.5 km and 650 metres in altitude and the Bayrische Au Trail with 25 km and 590 metres in altitude are ideal for beginners. The variety of trails makes it possible to gradually increase your stamina and get used to the physical demands of trail running.

There are various opportunities to experience guided trail running tours with a coach in the Mühlviertel. The Hotel Guglwald in particular occasionally offers trail running camps that are specially designed for beginners. These camps offer an excellent opportunity to train under expert guidance and discover the trails in a group. Coaching sessions can also be booked on the North Trails in the Bohemian Forest. The trails in the Mühlviertel region offer some breathtaking viewpoints that will delight every trail runner. Along the North Trails in the Bohemian Forest, you will find various spots that offer marvellous views over the hilly terrain. The high-altitude sections of the Hochficht Trail, which offer impressive panoramic views, are particularly recommended. The Bärenstein Trail also offers fantastic views of the surrounding landscape, where you can enjoy the natural beauty of the border region between Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic. These vantage points are both motivating and provide an opportunity to pause for a moment and take in the marvellous surroundings.
