Tips for your cross-country skiing holiday

Things to know about your cross-country skiing holiday in the Mühlviertel holiday region

Thanks to the high-altitude trails and modern trail preparation, the Mühlviertel in the Bohemian Forest Nordic Centre offers the best snow and cross-country skiing conditions.

All trails in the Mühlviertel holiday region are groomed for both classic and skating styles. There are family-friendly routes as well as challenging trails. In addition to the high-altitude trails, there are also valley trails, which are only groomed when there is sufficient snow.

On some trails, a fee is charged for the use and preparation of the trails. Information on this can be found on the individual trails.

Dogs are not allowed on the cross-country ski trails in the Mühlviertel, as they could hinder other skiers or damage the trail. However, dogs may be kept on a lead on the small Haagerloipe and the large Haagerloipe in Aigen-Schlägl!

Public transport only goes as far as Ulrichsberg (bus stop: Ulrichsberg OÖ Abzw. Lichtenberg). Unfortunately there is no public transport from Ulrichsberg to the village of Schöneben. You can find taxi companies here.

Relaxed winter moments

Winter in the Mühlviertel combines sporting activity with restful relaxation. Whether on groomed cross-country ski trails, winter hiking trails or snowshoe tours - the snow-covered landscape invites you to enjoy unforgettable experiences.

After an active day, you can enjoy soothing wellness moments in the sauna, with a massage or a fragrant herbal bath. An evening by the fireplace with regional delicacies also ensures perfect relaxation. Let yourself be enchanted by the winter idyll and recharge your batteries in the tranquil natural surroundings.
